Each and every item exported from the Nagasaki Trading Firm is recorded in the Nagasaki Trading Firm Journal. The table below shows the quantity and the location of the first direct shipment of soy sauce as motokata nimotsu (official trade freight) from Nagasaki Trading Firm to regional trading hubs in Asia. The map below shows the locations of the trading firms in Asia. It indicates that soy sauce was exported to the Moluccas in the East, as far West as the Western coast of India, and also to Jakarta and Sri Lanka in the South. The main consumers of soy sauce in these regions were kakyo (Chinese merchants abroad). |
